I love this comment! Thanks for coming by.... Hi Terese, I was glad to see you had stopped by! My partner is a Cancer. I am blown away by our similarities and yet like you, not surprised either! The Hatari thing was amazing because most people haven’t even heard of that movie, much less the music! I love the whole album though I haven’t replaced my parents 8 track tape with a CD yet. My daughter will be 22 in Sept. and was away for a year at an internship at Disney and is living with me again while she continues college. My best friend’s daughter is a new mom so I have gone from Aunti M to Granni M. But I look forward to my own, though not soon!
I used to do art but not so much anymore. You obviously get to express yourself every day! I’ll be honest I had to look up NaNoWriMo. I’ve been out of the writing game and circles for so long I’m out of the loop. That’s why my friend gave me the blogging site for a gift so that I could get into the groove, but I feel so far behind. I’m going to check it out though and see what you do for NaNoWriMo! Thanks for the tip!
Wow, what a beautiful way to come to a vision of art! You make me want to come to CA now and work on it and talk of life and express it upon my body. I’ve always thought of tattoos as my own little piece of art work. I have to get in better shape though before I feel comfortable getting one again. Due to a long story I shall not bore you with I have no ankle joint on my right ankle and had to cut down my exercise which now I have gained weight for. So, I’m trying very hard to get into cycling which is the only exercise I can do right now. I’m too young for an ankle replacement.
I’m assuming you see similarities in the next 3 with your uh-huh…..shhhh….laughing…regarding experience junky, own worst enemy and love discussing philosophy! And the water, wow, I have to tell you that I have been smiling all morning since reading how much a like we are. Amazing that I didn’t realize how much I was missing that in my life to know I’m not the only one! Sea monsters, I don’t have those but others I’ll share with you sometime.
I’m beginning to believe that we have a strong connection and possibly as early as Avalon, maybe earlier. You’re right about AR and the erotica. It did get redundant and she was not in her element as she is with Lestat though I could see several people I know in those characters! Try just opening Conversations to any page and read from there. Sometimes I get more that way and it’s more relevant to me at that time. It’s a book of philosophy, not religion. I’m glad you found Richard Bach too! I’ve never read Barbara Kingsolver but I’ll look her up. You and me both regarding SK! He’s awesome! No, I haven’t read the Dark Tower but I’ll see if I can’t pick it up during the summer.
Sorry for so long an answer but had to write back. You made my day. Have a great one -
Listen to the mustn'ts, child.
Listen to the don'ts.
Listen to the shouldn'ts,
The impossibles, the won'ts.
Listen to the never haves,
Then listen close to me ...
Anything can happen, child.
Anything can be.
~ Shel Silverstein
"The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary." --H.L. Mencken
"Seas of blood have been shed for the sake of patriotism. One would expect the harm and irrationality of patriotism to be self-evident to everyone. But the surprising fact is that cultured and learned [socially conditioned and indoctrinated] people not only do not notice the harm and stupidity of patriotism, they resist every unveiling of it with the greatest obstinacy and passion (with no rational grounds), and continue to praise it as beneficent and elevating." -Leo Tolstoy
Essentially, according to Buddhist teachings, the ethical and moral principles are governed by examining whether a certain action, whether connected to body or speech is likely to be harmful to one's self or to others and thereby avoiding any actions which are likely to be harmful. In Buddhism, there is much talk of a skilled mind. A mind that is skilful avoids actions that are likely to cause suffering or remorse.
