It Must Be My Birthday!!!

Cuz I've already been spanked, twice! First the blogger in the previous post with his/her not so subtle commentary on my lack of blog-ettiquette (to put it kindly), then I'm lazing around, watching the SE Match Women's Finals, (Justine had Serena the first set, but Serena rallied with that primal desire and power of hers and pulled it out! Great match, really), when I get an email from my Webmaster regarding my addition of a Technorati link. He was unhappy (to say the least), about the return link to the site which lists the blogs which have linked to An Artist's Journey, one of which included the following:

That night I remember him cumming. I did not cum by the way. I only remember him cumming because he blew his load up my fucking nose!! He must have pulled out and pulled off the condom and then just started jerking aiming for my stomach or tits as most men do. I was so out of it I dont remember, but this seems like the most logical conclusion. I mean I hope he didnt have some weird fetish about shooting up a girl's nose, but what do I know.

I'm sorry, I know it's gross; but I had to laugh (the whole while I was removing the technorati link from my INKBLOG). Seriously, I don't want that kind of stuff linked to my professional blog. My Webmaster and I already agreed that my personal life and politics are not appropriate parts of my business, but I really thought technorati was a good tool for checking out how many ppl were linking to my INKBLOG. What I didn't realize was that return link could get me in trouble!! Ha-ha on me!!

I'm really just trying, in my fumbling, non-blog-savvy way, to generate some traffic and interest in my blogs. It's turning out to be more difficult than I thought to keep traffic only going one way. I mean, there is no reason that my personal links shouldn't potentially generate business toward the INKBLOG and my website; we just don't want potential clients going to Phoenix Rising Tattoo Arts and then running away screaming with their hair on fire..."OMG, SHE'S A LEFT-WING, LESBIAN, WITCH!!!! AAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHhhhhhhhhhhh"

Oh, another spanking!!

Happy birthday to meeeee....

I posted this apology at the journal referenced in my earlier post today:

My apologies. I'm not really sure what I did wrong; I'm pretty new to
this BLOGGING thing, and thought I was posting links appropriately. On
the human side, I've been enjoying your journal for quite awhile, just
haven't yet managed to get a link up on my regular BLOG site. href="http://phoenixrisingtattoo.hartjoy.com/thornesworld.html/">Thornes
World BLOG I seem to be having some trouble with the LJ interface. (I
have an active, if not often updated LJ acct. which was primarily a
personal BLOG) I'd like to comment Open ID but haven't been able to
figure that one out yet, either. Anyway, sorry again. Love your BLOG!

I then went on to post that same entry at my LJ: LJ ThornesGarden. You know, the post where I ask for comments on blog-ettiquette?? here's my first response. I'm so grateful for this helpful criticism.

So, after reading your own LJ, I have a few comments:

Firstly, SilverAdept is definitely male.

Secondly, "blog" is not an acronym or initialism, and therefore is not
all capitals
. "Blogging" doubly so, since it's a verb-form modifier.

I've not seen your original post, and therefore cannot comment on how
spammish it looks.

(Is it just me...? Am I sensitive today...having a little upsurge of the old Menopausal Blues? Or are people just rude??)

Okay, I'm going to go edit my pronouns, now.

Labels: , , , , ,

I'm NOT a BOT!!!!

LOL So that was a good one. I recently left a comment in someone's blog* to alert this blogger to an online event that I thought, having been reading this person's journal for awhile, that he/she would like. Evidently the manner of my posting was too impersonal, and my linking was inappropriate in some way I don't understand. The result was I pushed his/her paranoid buttons and received a scathing mention in his/her recent post.

a random comment left in my blog that looked spam-like actually does have an existence and originate from the source is says it does. This is because someone else linked to the clearinghouse on it, and from there, the source was readily apparent. All in all, this exercise has two components to it - one, if you’re going to promote something, don’t sound like you’re a spam-bot. Put some thought into your material and sound like a human being. Second, if you want people to actually have a look at what you’re promoting, provide a place for them to look around without trying to infect their computers or throw up their paranoia flags.

Thank goodness he/she didn't actually name me (NOT). LOL I'm a dork when it comes to alot of this blogging and interaction via comment and links, but I'm learning. I'm still not sure how anything I posted could have tried to infect anybody's computer, but perhaps it's a PC thing. I'm not so up on that stuff, being a MacUser.

Maybe I linked it back to my blog or my Clipmarks?? And then you had to go from there?? I don't know. Anyway, comments and suggestions from anyone on linking protocols would be appreciated. I'd like to avoid such heinous blogging faux pas in the future!

Hey, this is me...

With everything going on, I haven't taken a moment to sit down and catch up on my life!!! So for a moment, politics and the world needs must be held at bay, while I bask in everyday joys.
F and A's Baby shower went off with a bang!!! It was so fun, and the clubhouse was a big surprise. The theme, was "Rockabilly Baby". Red, white and black with cherries. Sat AM C went to check out the clubhouse and discovered it already had a '50's decor. It couldn't have been more perfect!! There was a little diner style booth with Rte 66 and other metal signs, movie stills and memorabelia all over the place. (I don't have the pics up[loaded and edited for web yet, but I'll post them soon)
C provided the clubhouse and the food (luscious antipasto, spinach dip and meat and cheese trays, along with her famous pasta salad). K and M brought the cake. Magnificent!!! She managed to get an image of the Betty Page Pinup with the Panther Back tattoo and cherries on the cake. It was so cute. We played a few silly games, ate food, and of course did the obligatory oooh-ing and aaahhh-ing over all the lovely gifts.

Quite a few of us returned here for an evening of A's killer BBQ-ed ribs, music and conversation. It was a great (if exhausting) day.

I've been in a Fibromyalgia flare-up for a couple of weeks now. It's really kicking my butt. Of course, there isn't enough rest to be had so it just keeps stretching out. I spend a day or two up and doing (too much) and then a day or two (if I can) in bed. I'm getting tired of this. I'm trying to remain grateful that I haven't had a flare up in about 6 months, and remembering that 3-5 years ago I lived in this kind of pain and exhaustion daily, and couldn't go anywhere without a wheelchair. I know that our current financial stress is contributing, as well as concern over F' pregnancy. I need to relax and let go and let the Universe unfold. I'm workin' on it!!!

Back on the bright side, F had the ultrasound and the Baby is at 6 lbs, 6 oz. Yippee!!! The due date is bumped to April 20.

More good news is it looks like I'm going to get some respite assistance from caring for G, 24/7. Inland Valley Caregivers' Association offers assistance and programs to help with this. It will be nice to be able to go somewhere and not have to ask the kids or T to take care of G. I'll be able to maybe get away a little. There are also support and info groups and classes offered.

We're getting closer and closer to having the downpmt for the new truck we need so T can go for that Union Carpenter job. Yes!!! Oh wouldn't it be a miracle to have health care?!

The weather is getting awesome here in our beautiful High Desert, and it's time to start watering and puttering in the garden. The asparagus is up and delicious. I've had too much going on to start my tomatoes and peppers from seed this year, so I'll just have to buy small plants. I think it's gonna be a small garden this year. Too much work to do the whole 1000 sq. feet, and still battling that bermuda grass that was in the manure last year. We also need to do some repairs on the drip system for the trees.

That's it for the microcosm; back to the macrocosm!!

Another Great Graphic...

for the BLOG Against Theocracy. Also a clip from Blue gal's blog demonstrating yet another "Believer" with a brain.
Tengrain of Mock, Paper, Scissors designed this amazing logo.
I may be a "believer" whatever the hell that means, but I can't have too many smart, funny, and fascinating, atheists, scientists, agnostics, GLBT bloggers, etc. etc. around here. Who the fuck did JESUS hang out with, anyway? I don't think if he were here today, Jesus would have a beer with some hypocritical preacherman, even if the preacherman was buying. MY God is Love, and Mind, and Truth. And this blogswarm is all about those. Thanks for participating.

The Other Intelligent Design Theories

I commented over at http://davidbrin.blogspot.com/2007/03/vast-data-dump-of-misc-stuff.html
about the BLOG Against Theocracy, and he suggested this article as something to use in case he didn't have time to get in on the BLOGSWARM. Great article at the source!!!!
clipped from www.skeptic.com

Scientist and science fiction writer David Brin carries Intelligent Design creationism to its logical conclusion by showing the numerous “other alternatives” to Darwinian evolution that creationists don’t want you to know about, such as the designer of the Intelligent Designer, Panspermia, and others.

The Other Intelligent Design Theories
Intelligent Design is only one of many “alternatives” to Darwinian evolution

There is rich irony in how the present battle over Creationism v. Darwinism has taken shape, and especially the ways that this round differs from previous episodes. A clue to both the recent success — and the eventual collapse — of “Intelligent Design” can be found in its name, and in the new tactics that are being used to support its incorporation into school curricula. In what must be taken as sincere flattery, these tactics appear to acknowledge just how deeply the inner lessons of science have pervaded modern culture.

Altering the "Gay" Gene

It's so insane. Although the issues of self realization, coming out and living in this world can be difficult for us (Queer/LBGT), it is no-one's righ to try to "cure" what is not an "illness" Is it just me, but is this waaaay too Aldous Huxley?? Who remembers Brave New World ?
What they are talking about is genetic modification. Why not??!! While they're at it, let's genetically modify poor people's children to be dumb as rocks, therefor more suitable for only the most menial jobs....Although we should probably reserve a percentage to modify to be stronger, meaner, adrenaline junkies with a slight sociopathic streak to go fight wars....
Besides...do these people stop to think exactly who would do their hair, plan their weddings, and design their home decor if they eradicate the gay gene??
LOL. And can you imagine the drop in flannel shirt sales and male egos if they eradicate the lesbian gene?? LL Bean would go out of business!!! Straight men would no longer be able to salve their fragile egos by claiming "Dyke!" every time a hot babe turned them down!!!
LOL...
Oh, the ramifications!!!
Pity the poor fetus. There’s a lot coming its way. And now there’s talk on a conservative evangelical blog of a hypothetical hormone patch that an expectant mother might wear to eradicate her fetus’s natural gayness.
The patch, the biological determinism: It’s all conjecture, for now. But it hit like a theological IED when it turned up earlier this month on the blog of the Rev. R. Albert Mohler Jr., one of the leading voices of the 16 million-strong Southern Baptist Convention. He blogged on these issues under the appropriately provocative headline: “Is Your Baby Gay? What if You Could Know? What if You Could Do Something About It?” In his postings, he raises the possibility of a biological basis for homosexuality and prods his flock to think about how it should respond.
In an interview on Friday, Mohler said that Christian couples “should be open” to the prospect of changing the course of nature
“I think any Christian couple would want their child to be whole and healthy

Blog Against Theocracy - April 6-8

So get involved in a little blogactivism and help raise awareness on the need to preserve separation of church and state and protecting the First Amendment. Your help in recruiting bloggers for Blog Against Theocracy is needed and appreciated too.
I'd like invite you all to Blog Against Theocracy. This is a little blog swarm being put together by everybody's favorite panties blogger Blue Gal for Easter weekend, April 6th through the 8th. The idea is simple. Just post something related to, and in support of, the separation of church and state each of those three days. Something big, something small, artistic, musical, textual or otherwise. The topic is your choosing. Whether your thing is stem cell research, intelligent design/Creationism, abortion rights, etc., it's all good. Separation of church and state impacts so many issues and is essential.
if you need a little information to tickle your muse then you'll want to check over at First Freedom First for a ton of excellent resources.
Also, I can personally recommend this interview on CFI's Point of Inquiry podcast with Susan Jacoby, author of Freethinkers: A History of American Secularism. The Center For Inquiry is just one of many supporters of the FFF project.

We are Completely Sexual

This is an amazing article. Short but eloquent.
clipped from www.beliefnet.com
According to our cultural logic on sexuality, an affair with a male prostitute is the singular clue to Haggard's orientation; everything else is a coverup. Why? Because of the assumption that when a straight man has gay sex, he must be gay. His orientation, once hidden, is now disclosed. And it is absolute. Call it Hidden Absolute Gayness.
This logic is a problem for both sides of the debate over people like Haggard, because it refuses to acknowledge the paradoxical nature of human experience. As the psychologist quoted in the Times and his colleagues know, humans can act in myriad and inconsistent ways. We can go astray from ourselves. We can experiment with things that we wouldn’t ordinarily consider a part of who we are. A husband who sleeps with another woman is not revealing his inner polygamist. A straight man who experiences gay sex is not necessarily revealing his inner homosexual.
Humankind is not divided into 'heterosexuals' and 'homosexuals.' Rather, we are 'sexuals,'

Crystal Cave of Giants

these pics are amazing
clipped from www.crystalinks.com

The Naica Mine of Chihuahua, Mexico, is a working mine that is known for its extraordinary crystals. Naica is a lead, zinc and silver mine in which large voids have been found, containing crystals of selenite (gypsum) as large as 4 feet in diameter and 50 feet long. The chamber holding these crystals is known as the Crystal Cave of Giants, and is approximately 1000 feet down in the limestone host rock of the mine. The crystals were formed by hydrothermal fluids emanating from the magma chambers below. The cavern was discovered while the miners were drilling through the Naica fault, which they were worried would flood the mine. The Cave of Swords is another chamber in the Naica Mine, containing similar large crystals.

My iPod Shuffle for under $10.00

I just signed off at Amazon.com, where my checkout total was $5.78 before I switched to super savers shipping, which made my total $0.00. And what, might you ask, was in my shopping cart?? A brand new 1 Gig iPod Shuffle. “How on earth”, I hear you all asking, “did you get a shuffle for free”?

Well, like many of you, (admit it…. you too have been seduced by the idea of free stuff), I’ve been all over the internet chasing those “instant win” claims that “somebody knew somebody who won”, and gotten nothing for my trouble but a bunch of SPAM in my inbox. Then one day last month I was surfing around one of my bookmark sites, Clipmarks , when I came across a bit of news about an online entrepreneur by the name of Jerry Kaplan. What piqued my interest was a blurb about a game being based on anthropological studies showing that women in hunter/gatherer societies worked together for the common good.

Now, I can be as competitive as the next person I suppose; but this concept intrigued me- a game where people cooperate to win prizes??? --so I hopped over to Winster to check it out.

When I got there I was pleasantly surprised to find that the free trial was indeed a free trial, and the it was set up in such a way that it was not only possible but truly probable that I could win free movie tickets playing for free.

My big surprise was still to come as I logged in and waited for my game to load. The surprise was a 5 player room of friendly people who were practically falling all over themselves to help me! The surprise was a live chat board where other players explained the games and how to make trading and sharing work best for everyone.

The surprises were just beginning. Although the games are quite simple, the trading and sharing and social aspects are so much fun that the site quickly becomes addictive! Points are awarded for completing the puzzles, and although the totals required for various prizes (like my new iPod Shuffle) seem very high, they add up very quickly with all the trading.

Okay, so I was hooked. I decided to join. With 3 levels of membership topping at a whopping $9.99 per month, I figured I didn’t have much to lose; the game was fun, there was no long term commitment required, no “catches” or “hidden clauses” I could see, so it seemed worth a try.

Another surprise is the prompt and friendly customer service. Almost immediate, in fact. I made a little mistake when I joined and somehow my “spins” got misplaced. (Because I joined at a lower level and then immediately upgraded… I suppose I confused the system!!) Of course as my usual timing would have it, it was a weekend evening. So there I sat wanting to play, almost out of spins with which to play. I emailed customer support. The big surprise was when I ran out of spins and told the other gamers I was leaving they insisted that I stay! Why? So they could share all their unwanted puzzle pieces with me and keep me earning points. I was amazed. I played for about 2 hours before customer service got back with me. Two hours. On a weekend. I was immediately awarded 1000 spins so that I could play, and refunded 1/2 the cost of my first month’s membership due to the inadvertent loss of my trial period.

So here’s the bottom line. I’ve played an average of maybe 2-3 hours a day, for less than a month – actually 17 days – and have already won my iPod. No gimmicks, no catches, no BS. Just lots of fun, lots of nice people (and a few stray grumps, of course!!), and great prizes to be had for next to nothing.

I’m a host there now, because I like to help people get the hang of trading and sharing, and in support of this wonderful idea. I’m including the press release from Jerry at Winster, although it’s a little out of date. There are 6 games now. If you come by, look for me in the evening in chain gang, poker pals or picture magic; my favorites.

Play for Prizes at Winster.com --- Where Gamers Help Each Other Win
New Game Concept Lets Players Cooperate to Solve Puzzles for Faster Point Buildup

SAN MATEO, CA (January __, 2007) --- If you enjoy the social aspects of playing games in a group but dislike the competitive pressures of slaying monsters or completing quests, get in the game at Winster (www.winster.com), a new online game site where players cooperate to solve puzzles. The more you help each other, the faster the points pile up, and the faster you can earn prizes ranging from movie tickets to kitchen gear.

Teamwork Pays Off

Winster currently offers three puzzle games: Picture Magic, where players assemble complete pictures out of pieces; Chain Gang, where players build chains out of separate links; and Facets, where players make smiley faces by arranging colored tiles. Up to five players sit side by side in a ‘room’ where they can see each other’s puzzle boards. This sets the stage for working together to get faster results.

Players pick the prize they want before they start to play, then accumulate points toward that prize as they complete portions of each puzzle. When players get an extra or unwanted puzzle piece, they can trade it or simply give it away to another player who may need it to fill in a missing piece on their own game board.

This collaborative strategy speeds the process of finishing puzzles, building point totals, and winning prizes. Earned points carry over between games and play sessions, enabling players to drop in and out as their schedules permit without having to start over each time they sign on.

The friendly atmosphere is reinforced with on-screen messages that describe the action in the room as it happens --- from “Tanya and Debbie have traded pieces!” to “Becky scored 1,540 points with a 6-piece chain!”

First-time visitors can earn a free prize in about 30 minutes of play by signing up for a free two-week trial membership. After the trial, monthly memberships are available for $4.99, $6.99 or $9.99, depending on the amount of play desired per day.

Creative Inspiration

Winster was created by Michelle and Jerry Kaplan, a California couple with a mutual interest in both games and technology. Like many women, Michelle enjoys playing online games in a group but was able to find few options that didn’t require aggressive gameplay against either human or imaginary opponents. She saw an opportunity to fill the void with a new kind of group game that would replicate the friends-helping-friends spirit of quilting bees, babysitting co-ops and coffee klatches. Jerry, a serial technology entrepreneur, then hired a team to build the games and the web site.

“I wanted games that people would play with each other rather than against each other, the ability to drop in and out for short sessions, and a relaxing, friendly environment that was conducive to socializing,” Michelle Kaplan says. “Then I realized that players could help each other win prizes. That’s when it all came together.”

Winster’s roots with an avid female game player reflect the popularity of Internet gaming among women. A 2006 survey by Nielsen Entertainment found that 64% of all online gamers are female, while a 2004 study by AOL revealed that U.S. women over the age of 40 spend nearly 50 percent more time than men each week playing online games and are more frequent daily players than either men or teenagers.

“A lot of online gamers, both male and female, are motivated by a desire to make friends and build social relationships,” says Jerry Kaplan. “Winster taps into that desire with a fresh gaming format that encourages cooperation instead of competition. This sets Winster apart from other online game communities.”

About Winster

Winster, Inc. operates a new type of Internet game site that caters to people who play online games as a social outlet rather than a competitive one. The site offers innovative games designed to foster a sense of community and promote positive social interaction by enabling players to help each other win prizes. The company was founded in 2004 and is headquartered in San Mateo, California.

Baby Shower Invitations

Here are the baby shower invitations we made. I think they turned out pretty cool, and F loves them, which is what really counts.

Work it, Grrrrlllll!!!

Okay, so yesterday was another day in which I got some things done that I'm very pleased about, yet didn't manage to get as much done as I wished. (Or as much as I think I "should"?) This flare-up is kicking my butt! I managed to get what I feel is a killer article done for An Artist's Journey, and then went off all defensive when my webmaster gave me some constructive criticism. LOL. I'm still on the fence about it, but I fear he might be right. Anyway, if you have an interest in the subject of Tattooing on different skintones, either as an artist, collector or just FYI,; check it out.
Beyond that, I barely got the kitchen straightened up, (still haven't cleaned up the counter from the stained glass window repair); made a wonderful pot roast for dinner, (the Girlyboi was very pleased), and got 2 loads of laundry done.
*sigh* Didn't take care of the bills/arrangements. I'm so overwhelmed by the finances right now. I know that the longer I let it go, the worse it will get. I really need to take care of that today. I also desperately need to make birdy bread. I've got the mixing pot sitting next to me. I swear, I'm going to carry it around with me to keep it in my face!!!
I'm overwhelmed with desires. I need desperately to let go. I want more than I can have/do. I want to do my art, keep my house, take better care of my birds, garden, get healthier, lose weight, write more often, journal regularly, have quality time with my partner, make a difference in the world. And that's just the tip of the iceberg.
I want too much. I don't know how to stop. I'm overwhelmed with my desires and my inability to achieve them all at once, again today.

Feeling a little overwhelmed...

Yesterday was a lovely, lazy day in bed with my love. We watched all 3 of the Lord of the Rings Trilogy. (I napped for awhile during number 2). As nice as yesterday was, I need to figure out how to have a day off on the weekend without feeling totally overwhelmed by this house and the things I need to do, come Monday. Of course, it doesn't help that I'm still in a flare-up, and not feeling at my best.
Then F's A came home, which is great, but it also means that F disappeared without notice and without helping clean up her messes, or unloading the car from all the shopping we did on Saturday. I also scheduled B today for ink. I need to stop scheduling for Monday. There are just too many things I need to do after having put them off for the weekend. Bills, (or at least bill negotiations- haha), It's a beautiful day for laundry, I need to make Birdy Bread and since the bank wasn't open on Sat, I need to run into town.
I also need to catch up with web business since B finished my website. Well, it's not quite finished, because there is a bunch of copy that I need to get written so he can get it up; but it's up and running and lovely with pics and contact info. And I want to write an article this morning about tattooing on dark skinned people for my inkblog.
I think I would be feeling overwhelmed with all this if I weren't in a flare-up, but as is it's even worse.

I know this sounds terrible...

But it’s not. It’s not a competition, it’s a goal. I put it in these terms because we both have goals of better income both individually and collectively. Right now she is earning the lion’s share of our monthly income. She works really hard as a carpenter/construction worker, and we are neither of us getting any younger. I want to start getting enough tattoo business to at least match her weekly paycheck. Then we could get ahead enough to get her a new truck, so she can apply for (and get) a Union job. Once she does that, it will step up my goal yet again, which will be good. Then as she get’s raises, it will step up my goal again. Eventually this should allow her to retire and us to still have a good ongoing income and retirement!

Damned FMS

Grrr.... Having a damned flare up. Seems like I've been fighting one for a couple of months. Just when I would start getting rested after an event that got my body overworked, (like driving that truck around), another event would occur, (the tattoo show), and just when I was nearly recovered from that, G went in hospital. I'm sure it could have been worse. Like if I'd have had to drive back and forth from home instead of staying at Brad's. Still, 4 days without enough sleep; climbing in and out of F's little Celica (sooooo looowww!!!), and going without my psych and sleep meds really put me on the verge. Then I pushed myself over the edge by eating one of my allergy foods. I totally forgot!!
I've gotten pretty good about staying away from them most of the time, or only having a few chips when we go out for mexican, so I can have a little cheese. But I made pork chops and stuffing and frozen corn and like an idiot I ate the corn. Boom. Next morning not only was I wheezing and snuffling, but my lymphs were swollen like golfballs (literally. I am not exaggerating. The glands under my arms were the size of golfballs...or eggs).
Then I worked on Brad for a couple of hours and my wrists were aflame like they used to get. I had to tap out after 3 hours.
Of couse, at first all I could do was whine to myself about how I hurt and didn't want to feel like this, but then I managed to get into gratitude about how long it's been since I've had a flare up. All I had to do was remember that for 2 years I felt like this (and worse) every single day! So it's been rest, rest, sleep and more rest for Thorne. I haven't been on the computer or online with my wrists hurting so much, so I'm a bit behind everywhere. I'm starting here at my journals and then I'll try little by little to catch up everywhere.
Brad got my website done and up - the angel. If you're reading this, please stop by and check it out. I'm so excited. Please stop in and sign the guestbook, or put yourself on my map so I'll know you've stopped by (and so those features don't look so empty and lame!!! Please!!) And check out "Thornezene". LOL. We still need to add lots of pics and such, and I have lots of writing to do for the FAQs and Aftercare and About me, but all the links work and I think it looks pretty darned good!!
Yesterday I worked for about 6 hours, and cleaned house (had to-for the surprise client), so today is another mostly bed day for me so I can get this F/U under control. I'm going to stop by Clipmarks, My Yahoo, LJ, Bravenet, and 43 Things if I can and start trying to get a bit caught up. Sorry everyone I haven't been around. I hope you all understand.
